Why I don’t evangelize?

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

eyes.jpg

Pretty weird title to this post, heh?  Well, I was reading another blog concerning this subject, and this was the title to it.  It was an awesome post, and the body of it is HERE…   Excerpt.

I need to spend more time at my Master’s feet, learning to pray like a Christian, for it is indeed the instruction of Jesus that his disciples pray with a God-centered zeal, “Hallowed by your name”. Yes, I must truly want this. I must truly desire to see the name of my God exalted. Lord, make your name hallowed, make it holy, for it is being disregarded, vindicate yourself through the proclamation of the gospel.

Why? Why can I walk by the man or woman who has been beaten by the affects of sin and not open my mouth? There they sit, ever afflicted by the beatings, like the young man voyaging from Jerusalem to Jericho who fell upon robbers (Luke 10.30-34) and I am like the Levite or the preist who just walked on by. I have a medicine cabinet strapped to my back and I ignore them like they are not even there? Why? I do not love them. Perhaps you can relate?

What happens to those gospel tracts?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Well, we found out what happened to a gospel tract we left at the Heart of Jerusalem Cafe.  Not sure what the ideology is at this place, but they found a use for the tract we left them a few weeks ago.  Check out the “tip” jar.

Prayer for the nation

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Concerning my previous post.  I do believe that we, as Christians, are headed for some challenges in our nation in the near future.  Things have been much worse if you consider the persecution of the Christians during the time of Roman dictators.  And there are many being killed today around the world due to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but not too many in the US, YET

Yet we must remember that it is God who raises up leaders and nations and pulls them down.  And it is God who judges both, so let’s trust God, entrust ourselves to Him who judges justly and do what He commands.  Like….  we should view our new president as a servant of God (Rom. 13:1, 4) to whom we should be subject (Rom. 13:1, 5; 1 Pet. 2:13-14). Thus, again, we are to pray for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2). We are to thank God for Barack Obama (1 Tim. 2:1-2). We are to respect Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7). We are to honor Barack Obama (Rom. 13:7; 1 Pet. 2:17).

So let’s hit our knees and pray for this nation and it’s leaders.  And also for the Lord of the harvest to send more laborers to His harvest field.  And that we, like Paul,  may be given the ” that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel”(Eph 6:19).

Persecution, before you know it.

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Paul Washer and a very prophetic short message for those who proclaim the truth of the gospel here in the United States.  On inaguration day, the message of persecution hate crime legislation, is already up on the white house website..  check it out HERE….   excerpt

  • Expand Hate Crimes Statutes: In 2004, crimes against LGBT Americans constituted the third-highest category of hate crime reported and made up more than 15 percent of such crimes. President Obama cosponsored legislation that would expand federal jurisdiction to include violent hate crimes perpetrated because of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical disability. As a state senator, President Obama passed tough legislation that made hate crimes and conspiracy to commit them against the law.
  • Rejoice, for another sinner repents!

    Monday, January 19th, 2009

The following is an excerpt from a local seed sower, who has been witnessing to her son.  True conversions can take time, as the sinner “counts the cost”.   Witnessing should include facts such as the holiness of God, and the reality of what sin is, and that we are VERY guilty of offending God with our sins.  Sounds like Maritza was faithful in sharing the gospel to her son.  Rejoice!

My son Wally, 20, called me today (1/16) and told me that he repented
and put his trust in Jesus. I am so happy and thank my merciful Lord
Jesus!  While he was home during Christmas, I witnessed to him. It was the
third time I witnessed to him since Summer 07 when I learned Way of
the Master. I had also sent him the Tim Cahill book (30,000 Heartbeats
Away or something like that) which he read. (Thanks, Steve for giving
me that book for him!).  He told me that he needed “more information” because he didn’t want to come to Jesus just because he was afraid of going to hell.  Before he left to his Navy station, I downloaded to his iPod the  Vintage Jesus series and the Sexual Sin sermon both by Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church, Seattle.   He told me that he watched the Sexual Sin video first. Praise Jesus that Driscoll always ends his sermons with the Gospel.   Wally watched the Vintage videos next. He said that because each video  ended with the Gospel, he began to understand more. He then asked Jesus to forgive him.

Now, I need you to pray for his young marriage. He married a girl he
knew for less than one month back in August. The girl is a basket case
of jealousy, bitterness, and unforgiveness bringing her backpack of
baggage into the marriage.   I witnessed to her also during the holidays and she asked me to give her a Bible.   But Satan is playing hardball with both of them and even hurt me in the battle.

I praise Jesus that now my three sons are saved by His grace.

    Serving the King,

    Awesome night downtown

    Saturday, January 17th, 2009

We had a great night of witnessing downtown tonight.  It got a little cold, so we ended up riding the free shuttle bus.  Once on, I started to preach, and immediately a guy started competing with me and blaspheming the Lord.  As this was going on, Connie said that she whispered a prayer that the Lord would rebuke him, and he started yelling, “I will not be rebuked”!   Connie was creeped out but prayed that he would quiet down, and he did.  We told him that we would pray for him as he left the bus. Please pray for William, as he is homeless, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and has a demon problem.    ……  Chris also joined us and this is him and Connie sharing with a guy we met downtown…

We also got to share with a bunch of party goers on a balcony at a bar.  We told them that we would give them $20 if they could name 10 things.  They were very eager and we told them that the 10 things were the 10 Commandments.  They got 5, and then we started to share the gospel with them.  I told them that I would not take a lot of their time, but they wanted me to keep preaching, so I did.  They were very interested in what was being shared and thanked us very much for doing it.  There were also many others walking around in the street that were listening to the gospel being preached.

    May God be glorified.

    REJOICE in your suffering!

    Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Do we live our lives to show that if we are wrong, then we are to be pitied? Are you living a lifestyle that says that? Does the world look at your lifestyle and know that your Treasure is in Heaven and not in your Home, Car, Paycheck, Retirement account?
“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men” (1 Corinthians 15:19).

    At first look…wow

    Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

I know this may not be a good thing, but I saw this video, and had to post it.  Don’t know anything about this person, but as the apostle Paul said “What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice”(Philippians 1:18).

    Just confess Jesus?

    Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

I was out witnessing a while back and shared the gospel with an older woman.  After explaining the gospel and the need for repentance and faith, she laughed at me.  She said that she was a Christian and just wanted to hear what I had to say.  She said that all you had to do was “accept” Christ and “confess” Him as Lord.  I explained to her that even demons accept Christ as Lord, and the knowlege that this is true does not make you a Christian.  I quoted scripture in James that “even the demons believe, and shudder”, and how demons confessed Jesus as Lord before He ordered them out of people.  The woman then became very angry and told me that I did not know what I was talking about.  I told her that we would have to agree to disagree, and tried to shake her hand, but she RECOILED!  It seems that the folks most repelled by the gospel are those false converts that are church goers.  Those that make a “confession” and have “accepted the Lord”.   No…this is not the biblical definition of salvation.  You must be born again.  God saves you and grants repentance and faith.  You are are a new creation in Christ.  Your life will be amazingly different.

This reminds me of the Paul Washer description of a saved person.  How it would sound to someone if Paul showed up late to a speaking engagement and said the reason was that he got ran over by a bus.  And how ludicrous that would be and sound.  But many people say they have had a saving encounter with the creator of the universe, and they are not any different.  But they have made a “confession”….  The state of evangelicalism is in such a mess nowadays.

    Paul preaching

    Paul preaching

Kind of silly, huh.   But such is the state of most churches nowadays that teach “relationship evangelism”.  Don’t say anything what would possibly offend, but just “let your light shine”.  Well, if this was true, the Mormons would be the best evangelists out there.
    For………………
How can they believe in Him who they have not heard?  And how will they hear unless someone tells them?(Romans 10:14)
