More witnessing at the lake

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

The following is an account of last weekend’s witnessing to the Spanish speakers at Prospect Lake, here in town.  Please keep these brave women in prayer as they are faithful to witness to the Spanish speaking lost.

Greetings!

(No pictures today because I left the camera in the car.)

Raquel Brandt and I were at the park this afternoon sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We were living as if it were the last day of our life. The one thing we won’t be doing in heaven that we can do here is to tell people that they need to repent and trust in Jesus.

We were doing back-to-back: she would be witnessing to a group of people and my back was to hers because I was witnessing to a group of people. You want revival in your life? Come join us one Sunday afternoon. We witnessed to more than 19 people in 2 hours! And we handed out gobs of Million Dollar Bill tracts in English and Spanish.

Raquel got the most stubborn fish. A Cuban man with a Puerto Rican wife (from Bayamón, Mon). William is an official card-carrying African Diabolical Priest who knows he’s going to hell, claims to worship the one true God along with Obatalá and Yemayá (African deities). Raquel kept throwing the Gospel at him. She is a true Daughter of Thunder and I praise God Almighty for the privilege to glorify God at her side. (I made the Daughter of Thunder title up but I think it should be our official name: Daughters of Thunder.)

Pepe, get ready for attendees at the Spanish congregation. I was witnessing to Juan, his son Juan Carlos, and his son-in-law Antonio. Juan was so moved by the Holy Spirit that he wants to hear more so he gave us his phone number. I gave him a copy in Spanish of the Gospel of John.

The harvest is white and my legs are killing me so please pray for us and more workers July is going to be huge!

For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet, until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, and her salvation like a torch that is burning.
Isaiah 62:1

Serving the King,

Spurgeon quote of the day

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

To those who believe we should not use the law in witnessing to the lost, the following is an important message from Charles Spurgeon.
“It is absolutely necessary to the preaching of the gospel of Christ that men be warned as to what will happen if they continue in their sins. Ho, ho sir surgeon, you are too delicate to tell the man that he is ill! You hope to heal the sick without their knowing it. You therefore flatter them; and what happens? They laugh at you; they dance upon their own graves. At last they die! Your delicacy is cruelty; your flatteries are poisons; you are a murderer. Shall we keep men in a fool’s paradise? Shall we lull them into soft slumbers from which they will awake in hell? Are we to become helpers of their damnation by our smooth speeches? In the name of God we will not.”

Witnessing in Spanish at the lake

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Maritza and Raquel went to Prospect Lake on Sunday and had a great time of witnessing.  The following is the email that Maritza sent me.

Raquel witnessing to Armando

Raquel witnessing to Armando

For the past year, I have been praying that God send Spanish-speaking laborers to help me share the Gospel to Hispanics  that hang out at Memorial Park on Sundays. In all honesty- me of little faith- I gave up on the prayer and decided to just go solo. I figured that it was work that had to be done even if I had to go alone. So I scheduled to go to the park every Sunday at 2 pm on my calendar- a start at least. It was 1 P.M. on Sunday and I was getting ready to go to Memorial Park. I was thinking, “What a drag! I’m going witnessing by myself. That’s not even biblical.” As soon as I finished my thought the phone rang. It was Raquel Brandt. I met her at Steve’s and Connie’s mission dinner. Raquel had told me that she was trained in WOTM and had attended a Bootcamp.  She was calling me to ask if she could accompany me. The cool thing about this was not only that I would have a partner, but that I would have a Spanish-speaking partner. The rainy/windy weather turned to no rain/wind. This off and on weather continued during our time in the park.
I witnessed first because Raquel said she was a bit “rusty.” The weather cut our first Spanish encounter short with very strong winds and some rain. The wind and train stopped and it got sunny again. I went on to witness in Spanish to Luis and Cristina. Luis said he was going to hold on to the million dollars I gave him which opened the door to the million dollar question. Cristina and Luis listened carefully to the Gospel. Then I witnessed in English to Pam and her daughter Eva. Pam and Eva said they were born again so I talked to them about holiness. After this, Raquel said she was ready to witness. I told her to witness to the man selling ice cream. Armando was very humble and listened intently to Raquel as she witnessed to him in Spanish. Because Raquel and I had the same WOTM training-Raquel at Bootcamp and me at Ambassadors’ Alliance Academy-we were both presenting the Law and we stayed on the same page so to speak. I almost started crying while listening to the Gospel message coming out of Raquel’s lips because as she spoke the Holy Spirit convicted Armando. When she finished she was walking on air. There is something indescribable about being obedient and seeing the effect of God working through us. Raquel later mentioned to me that she and her husband had accumulated quite a bit of WOTM training materials, yet the two of them hadn’t put the training into action for some time now. We witness not only because Jesus commanded us but because we love our neighbor as ourselves. Do you have WOTM materials or training hours and yet still keep your mouth closed to others? It’s time. It’s time to put the hand to the plow because the harvest is indeed white. Glorify the Lord by sharing His Good News. Serving the King **Maritza*

Tracts ready to go

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

I found a neat cubby hole in the car to have my gospel tracts ready to hand out. It seems that if you have to dig for them, then they won’t get handed out when the time is right.

Robert preaching

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

A video of Robert preaching at the courthouse a couple of days ago. I wish that I could project my voice like this…..gotta work on it. BTW… Someone has already found the video at You Tube and wrote a scathing comment (and gave it one star). Way to go Robert! (Luke 6:22-23, “Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets”).

DMV on a cold June day

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

We met at the DMV this morning in a 42 degree drizzle.  Maritza preached and we handed out tracts.  She did a great job and the brave folks at the DMV got to hear the Good News.

What kind of hardship is a little drizzle anyway?  Especially with the example of Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:4-10.         ”But in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses, in beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in hunger, in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love, in the word of truth, the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, by glory and dishonor,  by evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers and yet true; as unknown yet well-known, dying yet behold, we live; as punished yet not put to death, as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing yet possessing all things”.

Now it hasn’t gotten as bad as it used to be in Paul’s day, but it is coming.  We are guaranteed to be persecuted if we want to live a godly life(2 Timothy 3:12), and legislation such as proposed “hate speech” is meant for people like us who are sharing the gospel.  Such persecution is already happening in places like the Czech Republic where Milan was sharing with us the other night of the cameras all around town that are hooked up to the local police stations.  And how the face recognition technology is in place to identify those who are causing “disturbances” such as open air preaching.  It is coming to a town near you , soon.

Here is Maritza preaching this morning.  There actually is a bigger crowd behind her that you cannot see that kept forming after she started.

Email from Maritza afterward….

It was awesome and all about Jesus! It was 7am @ the DMV. The Guys (Steve, Robert, and Kevin) were with me. Because it was cold and drizzling steadily we noticed that people were in their cars instead of standing in line. We figured that if we got in line people would join us. It worked. We waited until six people stood in line with us.
Last week, all I had to do at the El Paso County Courthouse to introduce Steve’s OA was to read out of a tract. I sounded like a squeaky bath toy. But today I didn’t worry because I was only 6 ft away from the people. The Guys prayed for me and I started at 7:30 As I preached more people got in line.
Yes, there were naysayers but I was there for the audience of One and His glory.
I praise God for His mercy and for the awesome brothers in Christ who were with me praying for those who are perishing.
We’re going back tomorrow.
