Living the Gospel?

OK….so I am sticking to one subject lately, but it seems to keep coming up, so I am running with it.  So can we just “live the Gospel”?  The word, Gospel, comes from the Greek word,  εὐαγγέλιον, euangelion (eu- “good”, -angelion “message”).  The English word was taken from the old English, “God-spel”, which means good message.  The Gospel is a message…it is news.  To say you are living out the Gospel means that you are proclaiming the good news of salvation in Christ by your life.  Just living a good life, cannot do this.  I know  many people who live a wonderful life who are not saved, and even are a part of anti-Christian religious cults.

Voddie Baucham has a good 2 minute You Tube on this.  Because the Gospel is the proclamation of news, he says that it would be like turning on the TV set to see the news and just watching people live their lives.  It does not make sense. He further goes on to say that the Gospel is the story of what God has done through His Son.  To say that the Gospel is about us instead of Christ, is blasphemy.  You can live in light of the Gospel, but it is NOT THE GOSPEL.

The Gospel is an announcement of what God has done in Christ through the cross by grace to give eternal hope for those who has faith in HIM.   Preach all creation!  That is God’s command to all of us!
